2011 Knitted Spun Newspaper and paint, 45x23x2cm, This work is about my personal itinerary in The United States, my new home country, it shows how the image of the flag is still so powerful in spite of a crumbling society. There are only 26 stars on the flag, which is the number of States I have personally visited at the time of making this piece.

2011, Spun newspaper. (4 pieces together) All these newspapers come from different places where I have lived. Once spun and knit, the newspaper no longer resembles news, yet a specific local character lives in each piece.
2011, New York Times from 9/12/01, crochet and spun , 44x54x6cm, The steel carcasses of the twin towers resembling an embroidery, had a terrible beauty, reminiscent of the Memory Church in Berlin, city where I have lived as well.

Spun 9/11 newspaper
Skeins was developed as part of “9/11 Knit” an exhibit commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the fall of the Twin Towers. The pair hangs precipitously on the wall, ready to unravel and tumble to the ground. Their thread is built from paper spun from editions of The New York Times on the days following this tragedy.
